Laser Hair Removal

Conveniently located to serve Orange County and Thousand Oaks

Almost every man and woman has areas of unwanted hair, which typically require shaving, waxing, or tweezing. As we get older, hair growth patterns and characteristics change, often resulting in more unwanted hair in areas such as the face, underarms, legs, chest and back. Studies indicate that up to 75% of women will experience increased facial hair growth as they age, due in large part to genetic factors or hormones. For our patients in Ventura County, laser hair removal at our Thousand Oaks center can reduce unwanted hair permanently and painlessly.

If you are interested in laser hair removal in Southern California, click here to request a consultation with one of our dermatology professionals. Or you can call The Center for Dermatology Care at (805) 497-1694 and one of our helpful staff members will schedule your appointment.

From Razors to Lasers

The latest tool in hair removal is the laser, and at The Center for Dermatology Care, we utilize state-of-the-art laser technology for optimal effectiveness and comfort. The GentleLASE® laser features an Alexandrite laser combined with a unique Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD™) for effective, permanent hair removal without injury to the skin’s surface. It is effective for treating both large and small areas of hair growth and works on fine or coarse hair.

The laser delivers pulses of specific wavelength energy (755nm) that are absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. The hair follicle is destroyed by this intense energy, and the contrast in color between the hair and the surrounding skin helps to prevent trauma to the skin. The Dynamic Cooling Device keeps the skin cool despite the heat given off by the laser and also provides some mild anesthesia to laser hair removal. The GentleLASE is capable of removing more hair faster as it has one of the largest spot sizes and fastest pulse repetition rates of hair removal lasers.

Efficient & Effective

Unlike electrolysis, which destroys hair follicles one at a time, laser hair removal at our Thousand Oaks center is capable of treating large areas – such as the back and chest – in relatively short treatment sessions. The laser only affects those follicles that are in the active growth phase. Since only some of the hairs are actively growing at any given time, the treatments are performed in a series. Most patients will need 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal effectiveness. Results vary from patient to patient, with subsequent residual hair growth usually appearing finer, shorter and lighter in color.

With laser hair removal, you’ll minimize the discomfort of unwanted hair, or the inconvenience of tweezing, waxing or shaving. With just occasional maintenance, you can enjoy skin that is smoother, softer and free of excess hair.
