This 69 year-old woman was referred by her Plastic Surgeon for hair restoration surgery. The patient had a prior hair transplant surgery, but she now reports that she was uncertain as to the skill or experience of that surgeon. Hair loss had been a chronic problem for her, and she saw little improvement following her hair transplant procedure. We discussed possible causes to her hair loss, and laboratory tests were performed to rule out a treatable medical condition.
The patient underwent a single hair restoration surgery session. Approximately 400 minigrafts/micrografts were transplanted to the areas of most concern to the patient. She healed well without any problem and was very satisfied with the results of this small session. The patient also was begun on Rogaine to help decrease any future hair loss associated with her androgenetic alopecia.
