New at Center for Dermatology Care! CoolSculpting by Zeltiq!
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that utilizes cooling technology to safely isolate and destroy fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue, resulting in a reduction or elimination of localized fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is FDA approved and over 140,000 treatments have already been performed. CoolSculpting actually destroys fat cells by freezing them so the results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
CoolSculpting technology was developed by scientists affiliated with Harvard Medical School and is safe and non-invasive, with no cutting, needles, or need for anesthesia. Treatment times vary but average between one and three hours for each area being treated. Some patients may experience temporary pain or discomfort during or immediately after the procedure, but typically patients relax, read or watch TV, or work on their iPad or tablet during treatments.
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss solution, nor is it a substitute for surgical methods of weight loss, such as liposuction. It works best on patients who are 1 – 20 pounds away from their goal weight and have isolated areas of fat that they have been resistant to diet and exercise. The most popular areas have been “love handles,” persistent bulges on the upper and lower tummy, and localized areas of back fat.
What is CoolSculpting™?
The ‘Cool’ Way to Freeze Away Fat in 1 Hour
You’re working hard at the gym, trying to get to your favorite gym classes each week to spot target that ‘bump’ of fat on your abdomen, or the saddlebags that make your denim just a little too tight. Sigh, sometimes it feels like diet and exercise just aren’t enough. Listen to this exciting news-we have a ‘cool’ way to freeze away fat in 1 hour at The Center for Dermatology Care! CoolSculpting is great for unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. This treatment can help you feel better in your clothes.
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is the only FDA-cleared non-surgical treatment for fat reduction. It is most useful for the treatment of areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. The results are noticeable, proven, and long-lasting.
Where can it be useful?
CoolSculpting works by fat reduction. It reduces the total number of fat cells in the treated area. It’s most useful on areas such as the abdomen, the flanks-otherwise known as the love handles-and the thighs, which are commonly referred to as saddlebags.
How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting is a revolutionary new treatment designed by scientists at Harvard and the company Zeltiq. CoolSculpting uses an applicator to apply cold to the fat at a temperature low enough to freeze fat cells, but not low enough to traumatize the overlying skin. This results in cryolipolysis, or the destruction of the fat cells. The damaged or destroyed fat cells are broken down and absorbed by the body’s immune system and taken away.
Are the results long-lasting, and can I do it again?
If you maintain your weight, the results will be long-lasting. Most patients opt for one treatment with CoolSculpting, but they may also benefit from additional treatments to further reduce the localized fat deposit.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of CoolSculpting include a non-invasive treatment as opposed to invasive surgery, and no downtime after your treatment. The treatment only takes an hour or so, and during that time you can relax with a good book or a nap. At The Center for Dermatology Care, we start to see the results almost immediately. It takes about 3 months to get the final result from your CoolSculpting treatment. Again, it is important to maintain a good diet and exercise regimen. CoolSculpting is not an alternative to diet and exercise, but it is a good alternative to invasive liposuction for a lot of patients.
How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?
The CoolSculpting treatment process varies from patient to patient and the overall cost depends on the treatment area(s) and the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results. We will develop your personalized CoolSculpting treatment plan and discuss the cost you can expect during your consultation.
