This 68 year-old man was referred by his doctor in Agoura for Mohs micrographic surgery of a basal cell carcinoma on the right ear. To preserve the greatest amount of healthy tissue and provide the highest cure rate Mohs surgery was chosen for treatment of his skin cancer.
The tumor was removed in a two stage procedure, resulting in a defect that measured 2.0 x 1.6 cm. The surgical procedure preserved the underlying cartilage, and a full-thickness skin graft was planned and performed. The area healed very well, and the patient and his doctor were very pleased with the final result.
