This 35 year-old man from Los Angeles presented for hair restoration. He was primarily concerned about the recession of his hairline in the front and desired more density in this area. Hair loss is actually a process of miniaturization where the affected hair follicles become smaller, thinner, and less pigmented. His hair loss began around age 25 and progressed slowly despite the use of Rogaine and Propecia. We discussed surgical hair restoration in young patients, stressing the need for conservative goals and mature hairlines. He was very concerned that the hairline be natural in appearance and expressed realistic expectations.
He underwent hair restoration surgeries with a total of 990 micrografts placed around the frontal hairline. This effectively lowered his frontal hairline and added density and coverage to the front of his head. He was very satisfied with the final cosmetic result.
