NOTE: Some before and-after patient photographs in our gallery contain nudity as well as Mohs Surgery and Reconstruction before and after images.

Mohs micrographic surgery is used for the treatment of recurrent or otherwise difficult skin cancers. It microscopically traces out the roots of skin cancers while preserving the greatest amount of healthy tissue around the tumor. Comparative studies show that Mohs surgery provides the highest cure rates for these skin cancers.

The Mohs Surgery Gallery contains examples of large skin cancers treated by Mohs surgery. Please be advised that these images are graphic and some may consider them disturbing as they depict surgical removal of skin cancers and the reconstruction process. However, they accurately reflect how extensive some skin cancers may grow even though they may appear to be small (remember, Mohs surgery only removes cancerous tissue) and demonstrate the types of reconstruction employed and some of the cosmetic results.

The pictures show the patient on day one before surgery, after removal of the skin cancer, after reconstruction is completed, and eight weeks to six months later when the area has completely healed.
