Laser Tattoo Removal
If you find yourself regretting one or more of your tattoos, The Center for Dermatology Care can help. Advances in laser technology make it possible for our doctors to perform tattoo removal at our Southern California practice.
The body art which once seemed like a good idea may now be causing you embarrassment or concern at work or in social situations. Many of the laser tattoo removal patients we see in Thousand Oaks comment that their tattoos don't convey an appropriate image at this point in their lives.
The lasers used at The Center for Dermatology Care employ light energy to remove the tattoo ink from the skin. The ink absorbs the light energy and is broken down into small particles that are eliminated from the skin through the body's lymphatic or filtering system. The energy is focused on the treated area, leaving the surrounding areas untouched.
The number of treatments needed to remove most or all of the pigment varies from patient to patient and tattoo to tattoo. In general, an average of 4 to 8 treatments is needed. While most colored inks can be removed or at least significantly faded, more treatments may be necessary to attain good results for those with green or yellow ink tattoos or in amateur tattoos since the pigment particles may be larger and at greater depths of the skin.
While the skin heals, the treated area should be kept clean and an antibacterial ointment applied to the area regularly.
